Buick Electra Wildcat
Buick recently unveiled the Wildcat EV concept, a design study aimed at showcasing the brand's future design direction, particularly for its upcoming electric vehicle lineup. In an interesting move, Buick chose a low, wide, four-seat fastback coupe design for the Wildcat EV concept, deviating from its current SUV-focused lineup. However, Buick confirmed that its future lineup will consist exclusively of electric SUVs under a new sub-brand called Electra, with the transition expected to be completed by 2030.
While the Wildcat EV concept itself won't be produced, it serves as a guiding influence for Buick's designers in shaping the styling of upcoming production vehicles. The concept was not designed to accommodate any specific battery pack, but rather to provide a clear design direction for future Buick models. The design team responsible for the Wildcat EV concept is also working on Buick's forthcoming production vehicles, ensuring a seamless integration of the new design language.
Buick has announced that the first Electra EV SUV will be revealed in 2024 and is expected to hit the market as a 2025 model. It will share a platform with the Cadillac Lyriq and likely feature a 100.0-kWh Ultium battery pack, delivering a range of over 300 miles. Both single- and dual-motor variants are anticipated to be available. Stay tuned for Buick's electrifying future as it embraces sustainable mobility with its upcoming lineup of electric SUVs.
